Fabio Fognini Claims First Masters 1000 Win

We love Fabio Fognini. He’s like a tennis peacock, strutting around the court, chest puffed out.

This great character had an amazing week in Monte Carlo and he’s finally managed to let his talent do the talking.

He also managed to give Rafa a tennis lesson in the semi-final, which on clay is one of sport’s toughest challenges.

Check out his best shots of the week on Youtube.

GBs Women Promoted to World Group After 26 Years Trying

A great effort by GBs women over the weekend, as they defeated Kazahkstan 3-1 to achieve promotion to the World Group.

It only took the 26 years! Seriously, a great effort and Katie Boulter is improving rapidly into a good prospect.

She had match points against Yulia Putenseva in her first rubber but lost. It shows great strength of character to come back and win her second rubber, especially after being a set down.

LTA First to Sign Up to Sporting Equals Charter

Good to hear that the LTA is the first UK sports body to sign up to the Sport Equals Charter.

It has been set up to actively promote greater particpation from the BAME communities (Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic).

The LTA’s SERVES Tennis Festival has visited East London and Anne Keothavong, Katie Dart and Katie Swan were in attendence.

I know that the BAME community is underrepresented at my tennis club so credit where credit is due it’s a promising sign to address this imbalance.
